Some people call her our Nature Navigator. Others know her as our “Creature Teacher”. Regardless of the moniker, Kristin is responsible for our numerous training sessions and educational seminars. In fact, it was her idea to “flip the script” on wildlife education. She realized that many wildlife preserves feature educational sessions for visitors, but none provide instructional seminars for the animals themselves. She was confident that if the animals get training on how to pose properly, just think of how much better all of those pictures will be! At the Preserve you will often find Kristin working with the river otters, teaching them how to tip over a canoe or counseling raccoons on swimming pool etiquette. She works closely with our resident bear whisperer to ensure that our male bears know when hugging is not appropriate.
